Warren started in radio over 30 years ago as station manager of Worksop hospital radio.
He did the breakfast show, got the station onto Medium wave and managed to build a new studio at the same time!
He started Trax FM in 1998 at its launch and stayed there with to the end in 2010!
He is DIY crazy, teaching himself to plaster, plumb and other DIY jobs.

  • Gav Roberts

An ‘outsider’ being born in the north west of England, Gav spent a large part of his childhood growing up in the Yorkshire Dales before travelling Europe thanks to the employment of his family.

He’s worked on a number of Stations across the region over the last few years including the now sadly departed Trax Fm on Drive and Mid Mornings. You can find him now on the Big Drive Home weekdays from 3pm. When he’s not in the studio however you can find him usually still playing music in various Pubs and Clubs across the midlands.

When he finally gets a break from work, you can find him exploring with his partner in crime, a little pug called Spud, who secretly thinks he can do a better job than Gav, if only he had opposable thumbs! He is also a self confessed Avicii super-fan (Gav not Spud).

  • John McDonald

    Hi I’m John.

I have reached that point in my life where I am labelled as being in my mid-30s. I am a massive geek and get great satisfaction out of watching Thunderbirds and Knight Rider amongst many other geeky things. Somehow I managed to get married to a girl called Claire and we have 3 amazing kids together. Ellie, Violet and Joseph.

I have been a huge fan of radio for many years and have worked for various different radio stations around south Yorkshire. There is something extremely special about pressing play and knowing that someone somewhere will be pleased with what has come on.

I am a huge football fan, a huge fan of cars both modern and classic (or just anything with wheels to be honest with you) along with being a big fan of music which is something that helps when you are on the radio! I can play the violin (not very well), the guitar (not very well) and the drums (not very well) and I often get told off by my wife for drumming on the table with my fingers too much.

Anyway enough about me, how about you?

  • Leighton Morris

Hi -I’m Leighton and I was born in North Nottinghamshire and was raised on diet of non-league football and my mums cooking.

I used to front the Worksop Guardian roadshow (remember that?) in my late teens and early twenties and have fond memories of jumping around on stage at various ‘The Bassetlaw Shows.’

I’ve also had a dabble as a supporting artiste in TV shows including Peak Practice, Crossroads and Merseybeat.

I’m 45, been married to Rebecca for 21 years and have a wonderful son called William who is 11 going on late teens.

I have a fear of squirrels (that’s a story for another day),
My favourite meal is Jacket Potatoes and Burgers.

My hobbies are going to the cinema; I love thetheatre ( I love a bit of Shakespeare), and I am an avid amateur runner (I’ve already got my place in next year’s Great North Run)

Join me every Saturday and Sunday morning for the Weekend Breakfast Show from 7am.
    Features include
Let’s Get Lyrical – The 24 hour song search,
    Non League Football update,
And I tell some things that you don’t already know.

  • Lee Barber

Lee has lived in South Yorkshire his whole life, and as it’s the best place on Earth, doesn’t think he’ll be leaving anytime soon! From a young age, Lee always knew that he wanted to sit in a room and play music, so this job fits that rather well.

When not in a radio studio, Lee can be found talking to students about it; this time as a media teacher. He loves watching his football team (the name of which will not be mentioned) having big days out with his Fiancée and mulling over important life decisions with his house rabbit Margret.

Lee is also a big supporter of local musicians! So if you're from the area and fancy having your music played on a Saturday afternoon, then send some of your amazing work to lee.barber@tx1radio.co.uk so we can take a listen!

  • Chris Marsden

The Classic Hit Weekend on Saturdays from 2pm to 5pm

What do you love about your job at TX1 Radio?
It’s truly local to Doncaster & Bassetlaw and love the place to bits. The music variety and the brilliant team of professionals we have

Vlogging with my family for our YouTube Channel and Facebook Page: The Marsden’s

Name a little known fact about you?
I was falsely arrested for carrying a shotgun to the local W.I. pantomime….I was actually carrying a fishing rod. I made the Daily Star!

  • Phil Ray

Phil grew up in the West Midlands and moved further north a few years ago to allow him to work at radio stations and make a home around here. He has been involved in radio since the age of 16 and absolutely loves it. As well as loving most parts of radio, Phil also loves the outdoors, looking at nature and a bit of gardening. As long as there's a bit of chocolate to eat at the end of the day, he's happy!

What are you happiest doing when you’re not working?

Visiting local shops and eating their food if they serve it, gardening, walking around nature reserves.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

    Don't laugh... A weather presenter/meteorologist.

What's your favourite genre of music?

I have a very broad music taste and knowledge because I grew up with a lot of older songs. I LOVE a good party/dance song through, as you may have guessed if you've listened to my show.

Name three words that you describe you:

    Tidy, positive, clumsy

What is the most frightening and challenging thing you have ever done?

I would say the most frightening and challenging thing would have been the Three Peaks challenge, having to climb all those mountains in a row! However, it was a great feeling at the end of it all.

What is the strangest habit you have?

Sometimes I like to spin on office chairs. I know, how old am I?

  • Stewart Nicholson

Stewart Nicholson has been involved in radio for just over two decades and enjoyed a spell as a club and mobile DJ, before following his dream and becoming a radio presenter.
It all started for Stewart back in 1999 when he got to present on a brand new radio station back in his hometown of Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. He then went on to present on a radio station in Chesterfield, before slowly making his way up north to South Yorkshire - where he became the breakfast show host on Rother FM in Rotherham for over 5 years. Stewart now lives in the area with his fiancé and naughty sausage dog Mash and classes it very much as his adopted home.

He says his best moment on air so far is a non-stop 12 hour broadcast, which raised over £20,000 for charity and now becoming program director for RB1 and TX1 Radio.

In his spare time Stewart loves seeing his family, travelling and walking with his partner Jemma and dog Mash.

Stewart’s answers to your quick-fire questions:

**Q1: Describe yourself in three words
    **A1: “Happy, Kind and loving.”
**Q2: Do you have any strange rituals which you carry out before you start your show?
**A2: “Ha! No but this question makes me want to start one. I’m open to suggestions?!”
**Q3: If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
**A3: “One song I never get tired of hearing is ‘Donna Summer - This time I know it’s for real.”
**Q4: What would you be doing if you weren’t on the radio?
**A4: “I’d probably still be a mobile DJ.”
Q5: What’s your Karaoke song of choice?
A5: “’Otis Redding’s Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay.”

  • Bruce Edwards

Bruce’s interest in radio started as a kid in the 70s when his Dad gave him his old KB “Toaster” Bakelite Radio to listen to. He quickly found Radio Luxembourg, a few other local stations and the Radio 1 Top 30, and from then on, he was hooked. Night after night he would listen to all the different stations across the UK and Europe, fascinated by the variety of sounds, voices, and places he could listen to.

Before he left school he was helping out at his local hospital radio station, and shortly after starting University in Sheffield in 1985, he started helping out on Hospital Radio here too. A year at Radio Top Shop led to the chance to join Radio Hallam, and since then he’s never been far from a radio studio. Bruce has worked on a variety of radio stations in Sheffield, Hull, Bradford, Preston, Liverpool, Manchester, Lancaster, and on Teesside, not only on commercial stations but on the BBC as well.

These days, when he's not in someone else's studio, you can usually find Bruce in his own fully digital home recording studio. And when he’s not in his home studio, there’s a few other things that keep him out of trouble, like photography, travel, the garden, home cooking, TV Documentaries, as well as football, cricket and golf, a good book to read and last but definitely not least his 3 Chihuahuas, Candy, Dottie and Fifi. These three girls never fail to keep their Daddy on his toes with a never ending stream of requests for walkies, food and general attention seeking.

I was at Butlins in Filey when Elvis died and I’ve met Paul Weller in a airport! He bought me a pint!

  • Tom Priestley

Tom Priestley is a local lad born and bred who has lived in Worksop most of his 37 years. He would argue he looks his age but his wife would say he looks much older.

Tom lives with his wife Jo and 18 month old son Jack. Jack currently provides much of the entertainment and drama at the family home and is slowly taking over. You may even hear him on air whilst we work from home.

In his spare time, Tom loves a good box set or murder mystery and is a big fan of comedy. Also a huge music lover with a diverse range of tastes and loves a pint at the local with friends.

Tom has worked in radio on and off for the past 15 years and is truly passionate about our area and local radio.

  • Jonathan Turner

Jonathan has lived in Mansfield his whole life, but his day job has taught him that South Yorkshire is a wonderful place ( he nearly ssid bread cake once rather than cob) Since 1975 jonathan always knew that he wanted to do “radio” from hospital radio when leaving school to here at Tx1 and rb1 radio and a fair bit of “ radio stuff” in between.

When not in a radio studio, jonathan can be found watching his team “united” sorry to say this is Manchester and not the blades or the millers. Lets gloss over this. Hobbies include mountain climbing and long walks. Ok just long walks. Sometimes.

Metallica super fan with a love though of all musical genres apart from scooter. Obviously

  • Jess Baines

Hey I’m Jess, I was born in the best part of Bassetlaw:- Worksop.
I’m married, we have little girl who is the boss of our house and have 2 rescue dogs too.
Radio is my favourite hobby obviously but I’m just trying to find time in my hectic life to start up dancing again as that was my passion when I was younger.
I love watching TV dramas, the ones that tax your brain and make you want to watch the next episode straight after.
If 90s is your era just like it is mine then join me Wednesday evenings 9-11pmwhen we do “Stuck in the 90s” nothing but 90s classics to bring back some memories.

  • Joe Beardsall

Barnsley-born and bred, Joe had spent his entire life living in South Yorkshire.

He’s worked for several radios covering Barnsley FC, Doncaster and Rotherham for many years.

He hosted the Millers celebration parade when they were promoted to the Championship and even got Paul Warne to get his physio to give him a massage once. It was a long story!

At the start of the pandemic Joe was over 18 stone but 12 months later he’s lost over 4 stone and he’s fit and ready to chat nonsense on the radio.
