Detectives seek information after firearms discharge in Doncaster

Detectives in Doncaster are urging the public to contact them with information following a firearms incident in Cantley last night (12 April).

Police were called at 9.28pm following multiple reports of a disturbance and a firearms discharge on Maple Grove.

Armed response officers were deployed to the area and evidence consistent with a firearms discharge was found at the scene, including damage to a property.

Two people were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and remain in custody at this time.

A short time later, officers received reports of an abandoned vehicle, a blue Subaru Forester on Mill Street, Armthorpe.

A number of weapons were located by officers at the scene.

The two incidents are believed to be linked and enquiries are ongoing at this time.

Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Henderson said: “We are urgently seeking witnesses, CCTV or dash cam footage from either incident as part of our enquiries.

“If you saw what happened on Maple Grove then please do contact us and share that information.

“We’re also keen to hear from you if you have information about the vehicle found abandoned in Armthorpe. Did you see the occupants leaving the scene? Can you tell us anything about that vehicle? We want to hear from you.”

You can call 101 or make a report online quoting incident number 1004 of 12 April.
